September 2022 SFPE Chapter Meeting

This is the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Middle TN Chapter of SFPE. This month's presenter will be Jerry Schultz from The Fire Protection International Consortium (FPI) on the topic of Retroactive Requirements and NFPA 13 Sprinkler System Designs.

Recently there has been a spate of fires in sprinklered warehouses. In addition, the warehouse field is undergoing significant changes where the sprinkler system is not keeping up with the changes in warehouse technology. This talk will discuss those changes and explore when the AHJ can apply retroactively parts of NFPA 13 to ensure the adequacy of the system. It will also discuss how we can stay aware of warehouse changes and explore the high-piled permit requirements within the building code.

Mr. Schultz is a Principal with FPI, is a member of the NFPA 13 Technical Committee and is a recognized speaker in the industry. His talks always raise some interesting questions for all to consider.
