About the Event

This is the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Middle TN Chapter of SFPE. This month we have Tim Riley from PyroPhobic Systems presenting on the topic of intumescent products and protection of lithium ion batteries.

Mr. Riley is PyroPhobic System’s Director of Business Development.  He has 30 years of experience in technical sales of life safety products. For the last 10 years, Mr. Riley has directed business development and sales activities for PyroPhobic System’s unique life safety technology. Mr. Riley is experienced working with OEMs to achieve UL 9540a test results at the module and unit level.  

Mr. Riley is a participating committee member for the development of standards and regulations related to lithium batteries. He serves as a member on the SAE G27 committee that is developing performance packaging standards for air transportation of lithium batteries. Mr. Riley has contributed to several technical reports and papers related to thermal runaway containment of lithium battery powered systems.  

Before this, Mr. Riley directed architectural and field sales to specify, sell, and apply UL listed cementitious and intumescent fireproofing systems in major metropolitan regions throughout the United States. 

Mr. Riley is also a retired in the United States Navy Officer. He is experienced in training and directing the activities of fire fighters and hull technicians for the maintenance and operation of all shipboard damage control and firefighting systems.  

Lithium Prevent is used by OEMs for lithium battery powered systems to contain lithium battery runaway events with a passive intumescent fire resistant thermoplastic. Lithium Prevent is an injection molded or extruded module or panel that is used in energy storage systems, electric vehicles, electric and hybrid marine, and logistics industries.
